How to use the service

  • Run your project and scan the gels

This is somewhat of a given but it's important to know that the work of Ludesi starts when you have exported your gels as TIFF images (.gel/.tif or any other appropriate format).

  • Download and install Ludesi REDFIN

Download and install our software Ludesi REDFIN. Upon starting the application you create your account; both the software and creating an account is totally free.

  • Create your project

First you select the gels to be analyzed, then you tell us how you want them analyzed. This includes if it's a DIGE project, if there are technical replicates amongst the samples, what groups to compare etc.

  • Choose Basic or Pro service level

There are two quality levels to choose from, Basic and Pro. Basic is a standard analysis and works well for standard images. Pro includes a lot of manual quality assurance and also handles all kinds of anomalies that might occur and special requests. Read more about the difference between Basic and Pro here.

  • Buy credits

To submit a project for analysis you have to pay for it using Ludesi credits. You can pre-purchase credits or buy them whenever you're about to submit a project for analysis. Possible payment methods are credit card and invoice. Both purchase methods immediately fill up your account with credits so that you can order the analysis, there are no delays involved. You can purchase credits either directly in the REDFIN software or from our "How To Buy" webpage.

  • Submit the analysis

When all is ready and you have credits in your account you can submit your project for analysis. The gels and information about the project are uploaded to the Ludesi servers and the credits deducted from your account.

  • Wait for results

After submitting the project to Ludesi it will appear on the start page of Ludesi REDFIN, under the section Experiments in analysis. All you have to do now is wait and let Ludesi's Analysis Center do it's magic.

  • Share your project

This is of course optional, but you can already at this point start sharing you project with others, and it will be available to them, as well as yourself, as soon as it's done. Even if they don't already have an account for Ludesi REDFIN, they will have access to the project when they create an account. And in case you were wondering, people you want to share your project with do not have to be Ludesi customers - sharing is completely free.

  • Analysis finished - download your data

When the analysis is finished, the project will move on your personal REDFIN start page to the section Review existing experiment. It is now available for download and reviewing on any computer - anywhere in the world. Click first to download the spot data. You will be asked for your password to prevent unauthorized access to your data.

  • Examine the results

Clicking on a downloaded project on the start page opens it in the results module of REDFIN. The results module is comparison centric - meaning that you always look at the results in the context of a comparison: one or more groups compared to each other. Therefore the main view is a list, sorted by statistical relevance.

Ludesi REDFIN offers many ways of viewing your results, annotating spots and editing the results. Follow this link for an overview of the features in REDFIN.

  • Share your findings

This is actually something that just happens, you don't have to do anything. All changes you make to the project; annotations, star markings, spot edits etc, are automatically pushed to the Ludesi servers, and thereby distributed to all other users with access to the project.

  • Export to picker / Excel / Pdf

Whether you want to export a pick file to feed your picker with, an Excel spreadsheet for custom graphs and statistics, or a nice looking PDF that summarizes your work - remember that it's always the current comparison that gets exported.
