faq - frequently asked questions

What procedure do Ludesi use to analyze my gel images?

At Ludesi we essentially follow the same steps for analyzing 2D gels that most other image analysis software have in common: background subtraction, image alignment, spot detection, spot matching, and normalization.

By keeping our proprietary image analysis software in-house, operated by a team of experts, we are able to disregard all elements of user-friendliness, and focus entirely on accuracy and flexibility. Flexibility meaning that there are many parameters for us to adjust, in order to optimize performance for your individual experiments and the different challenges they bring.

After you have uploaded your 2D gel images to us using REDFIN

Manual image quality check by an expert and general ”sanity check”.
Background subtraction, spot detection, spot matching, and normalization by our Analysis Center.
Final ”sanity check” of the image analysis results.
Export of your results to your person REDFIN account, where you are able to download and view and work with the data.

In addition, Ludesi Pro analysis include, prior to exporting:

Removal of incorrectly detected spots on artifacts and streaks.
Spot detection optimization.
Spot matching optimization.
Iterative Combined Correctness measurements until a pre-defined data quality level has been achieved.
