Quantification

Quantification measures the cumulative staining intensity contained within a spot, which is proportional to protein volume. The staining intensity for each spot is corrected for background level and noise.

 

Normalization

Normalization makes spot volumes comparable between gel images. It removes variation dues to technical differences in staining, scanning and sample volume.
