Spot detection

Spot detection uses image analysis algorithms to detect all real protein spots in the images, while at the same time minimizing false spot detections coming from e.g. scanning artifacts or spot streaking.

Too large or ill-shaped borders give incorrect spot volume calculations. This has a negative effect on the accuracy of the data, making it difficult to see the true differences in protein expression between groups of gels.

Ludesi’s spot segmentation algorithms ensure that each spot border encloses the entire spot and nothing else.
