New for 2D gel softwares: Pay only if you’re happy!

Most software providers offer you a free trial of their 2D gel analysis software, so that you can play with the software using your own images and see how it performs on your 2D gels. These trials are normally limited in time or number of gel images.
No doubt a free trial is a useful and to an extent necessary option. However, as most people who have worked with 2D gel image analysis know, the quality of the results is very closely linked to the nature of the 2D gel images. And depending on the sample you are currently working with and the type of experiment you are performing, the quality of the image analysis results will vary.
Maybe the software works great on your cell culture gels but what if you’re not happy with the image analysis results for those serum samples where you are still working on optimizing the protocol?
Surely there is a better and more flexible way of testing before you pay?
