Problems upgrading your .NET Framework?

Posted by ludesi in Tips and Tricks

A few months ago we had to make a difficult decision.

On request of some of our REDFIN users we developed additional visualization tools in REDFIN. To do so, we took advantage of the most cutting-edge image visualization possibilities included in the Microsoft ® .NET 3.5 Framework. The tools worked and looked great, but still we hesitated before releasing them. Why? Simply because most of us have an older version of the Microsoft .NET Framework on our computer (unless you have Windows Vista) and to get the new tools to work it would require an upgrade of the .NET Framework.

A decision had to be made, and upon reading that Microsoft will soon make it mandatory for every Windows running computer to upgrade their Framework, the decision fell in favour of the new tools and we pressed the release button.

Thankfully, most of you have had no problems upgrading but we know that for others it has been a little more tricky.

If you are experiencing problems, here is what you should do:

1. Talk to your IT support person (if you have one)

Upgrading your computer is normally handled by your IT support. They have experience in doing this and it should take them no more than 30 minutes (depending on your internet speed). Especially if you do not have administrative privileges, you need to get hold of the person who does.

2. Talk to us

Although the Microsoft .NET Framework is unrelated to Ludesi, we will still try our best to support you. We know of some potential problems that can cause a failure in the upgrade and we will definitely give it our best shot to get you up and running. So if you are experiencing problems and cannot get hold of your IT support, don’t be shy of contacting us.

Either call +46-40-105-070 or email directly to support@ludesi.com.

We would like to know about your experiences with upgrading and if you would have preferred us to hold back with releasing the new tools. Feel free to comment on this blog or to email us with your thoughts. Thanks!
